A Luxury Celebration || An Isle of Skye Wedding Video

Clare & Dave’s Isle of Skye Wedding

The Isle of Skye is a place of wild beauty and untamed romance, making it the perfect setting for a high-end wedding experience. For Clare and Dave, Skye wasn’t just a destination—it was home. Their wedding day on the 9th of September 2023 was a stunning blend of elegance, adventure, and deeply personal touches, captured beautifully on film to preserve every emotion and fleeting moment.

A Wedding Rooted in Love & Legacy

Clare and Dave’s love story began in London, but their hearts were always drawn to the Highlands. Skye, with its rugged landscapes and rich history, was the only place they could imagine saying their vows. With the expert planning of Sam Skinner from Hitched in the Highlands, they crafted a wedding that was as seamless as it was spectacular.

Their ceremony took place at Old Trien House in Satran, a location imbued with history and character. Surrounded by 60 of their closest family and friends, they exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony officiated by Anne Macaskill. Incorporating the Scottish tradition of an oathing stone, they sealed their commitment with a deeply symbolic gesture that connected them to the land and their heritage.

As harpist June Naylor played ‘To Build a Home,’ Clare made her entrance, a vision in her Katherine Tash ‘Bella’ gown, with her bridesmaids—each in their own unique dress—by her side. The air was filled with anticipation, love, and an overwhelming sense of belonging.

The Ultimate Highland Celebration

After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a relaxed drinks reception featuring champagne, craft beers, and curated canapés by Grant McNicol, including Skye crab tartlets and duck confit croquettes. Meanwhile, Clare and Dave slipped away to the breathtaking Talisker Bay for an intimate couple’s shoot with Andrew Rae Photography, a moment of stillness amidst the excitement.

The reception at Café Cùil in Carbost was a masterclass in laid-back luxury. With long banquet tables, festoon lighting, and carefully curated florals by Emma at Skye Bloom, the setting was both intimate and visually striking. Guests dined on a meticulously crafted menu featuring cured meats, burrata, and artisan sourdough, with an exquisite selection of wines complementing every dish. A five-tier cheese tower served as the centrepiece of their evening feast.

Toasts and speeches were heartfelt and lively, led by Dave, Deirdre, and best men Herbie and Tufty. Clare herself took to the mic later in the evening, a moment that was as touching as it was unexpected.

Dancing Under the Highland Sky

As the sun set over Skye, the evening transformed into an unforgettable party. Innes Watson provided the soundtrack for an electric night of music and dancing, with guests swaying to the couple’s first dance song, ‘Mary’ by Rura, before the energy ramped up with ‘Digital Love’ by Daft Punk.

Guests were treated to late-night tacos from The Angry Gull and expertly crafted cocktails as they danced into the night. When the final song—‘Fisherman’s Blues’ by The Waterboys—rang out, Clare and Dave found themselves in a moment of pure joy, surrounded by their favourite people in the place they loved most.

Behind the Lens: Our Unexpected Wedding Day Moments

Capturing Clare and Dave’s wedding wasn’t just about the big moments—it was also about the little adventures along the way.

The night before the wedding, we found ourselves in what might be the most scenic traffic jam in the world—stuck in Glencoe, just before the iconic Three Sisters. If there’s ever a place to be delayed, the mist-draped mountains of Glencoe aren’t the worst backdrop!

On the wedding day itself, Andrew and I were bundled into the back of an ATV (Seen above) and bounced our way to a secluded private beach for some truly breathtaking shots. If there’s one thing we learned, it’s that the Isle of Skye doesn’t just offer stunning wedding locations—it offers adventure, too!

In the midst of all the excitement, I somehow managed to leave my car unlocked for the entire duration of the couple’s shoot and bridal party photos. Thankfully, Skye is as kind as it is beautiful, and the car (and all our gear) were still there when we returned—just another reminder of the magic of this place.

Why Video Mattered

For Clare and Dave, the decision to have their wedding filmed was an easy one. “We wanted to remember it all,” Clare shared. Every glance, every laugh, every tear—woven together into a timeless film that would allow them to relive the magic of their wedding day for years to come.

Through our lens, we captured not just the events of the day, but how it felt—the intimacy, the grandeur, the unspoken moments that make a wedding truly unforgettable.

A Wedding That Felt Like Home

Clare and Dave’s wedding was more than just a celebration—it was a reflection of their love for each other, their families, and the landscapes that shaped them. For couples dreaming of an elevated, experience-driven wedding in Scotland, their story serves as proof that luxury doesn’t mean losing the heart of the day—it means making space for the moments that matter most.
